Guardian Home Program

As a husband and wife team continuing a two decade family business raising wonderful quality dogs, we believe that one of the greatest gifts in life is the family you get to spend it with… and for us that certainly includes our dogs! While we can offer enough love, daily walks, afternoon fetch games and evening grooming sessions for a few furry family members, there is only so much time in one day.  So, as a way to ensure that each of our dogs gets to live the complete fulfilling life they deserve, we utilize the mutually beneficial relationship of  guardian homes.

Our Guardians provide a fur-ever home to the beautiful breeding dogs in our program, while also being given a unique opportunity to experience the joy that comes along with bringing new canine companions into the world.  In exchange for their love and support,  guardian’s are given a purebred puppy at no cost while we retain their full breeding rights for a set amount of time.  Each dog is spayed/neutered upon retirement, after which they get to continue enjoying life with the guardian family they have become part of!

Female Bernese Mountain Dog Puppy

We’re always starting new purebred females in our program. If you’re interested in working with Haystack and adding a beautiful Bernese Mountain Dog puppy to your family, please fill out the application below!

What to Expect with a Guardian Female.

A female’s breeding career is typically four litters at a frequency of one or two a year, depending on several factors.  The Guardians are required to notify us immediately when the female is in heat, at which point we’ll determine whether she’ll be bred, or that cycle will be skipped.

If bred, she will spend the rest of her pregnancy with you and we’ll stay in contact.  One week prior to the expected delivery, she’ll be returned to us where she’ll remain to whelp puppies.  Of course, during that time you’re free to come over and meet your dog’s babies!  After six to eight weeks the pups are weaned and you dog is ready to go back home.

Throughout her career, it is your responsibility to keep your mom healthy and away from other intact males.  After her prosperous career creating beautiful Bernedoodle puppies, she will be spayed and enjoy a fulfilling retirement with your loving family.
